Apple is falling behind with Siri as AI transforms how people use technology

At the time, Siri’s capabilities were limited, but very impressive. Siri can show you the weather, set timers, search the web, make phone calls, play songs, set reminders, and more. All based on voice commands. Apple always said this was just the beginning. But it turned out that Siri wasn’t living up to its full potential.

You can’t talk about AI without thinking about Siri. Apple’s virtual assistant officially launched in 2011 after the company acquired Siri technology from a startup in 2010. The technology was able to understand a set of commands that helped users search her web. Of course, Apple had ambitious plans for Siri and included it as a feature of his iPhone 4S at the time.

It’s been years and little has been added to Siri. Over the years it has added some new tricks, support for new languages and even a new interface. But it is by no means revolutionary in how it works. But of course, everyone is interested in voice assistants, and Apple’s competitor soon launched its own version of his Siri.

Google unveiled its own assistant, Microsoft his Cortana, and Amazon Alexa. But while these companies have worked hard to make their assistants smarter over the years, Siri remains basically the same as he was in 2011.

About 12 years after Siri was announced, AI is more advanced than ever. This year, tools like ChatGPT showed how virtual assistants can not only easily answer simple commands, but also think and create new content.

Earlier this week, one developer showed that GPT-4 technology is even capable of building his iPhone apps using Apple’s SwiftUI language. Another great example of his is Brave Search’s new Summarizer feature. It uses AI to create short summaries based on multiple sources about what the user is based on.
