  3. PrairiesCan’s funding is complemented by financial support from industry partners and nonprofit organizations, aligned with the Government of Canada’s Framework for Building a Green Prairie Economy and supported by dedicated PrairiesCan funding amounting to $100 million over three years.

In an effort to further support and advance Alberta’s health tech sector, Randy Boissonnault, Member of Parliament for Edmonton Centre, has unveiled a bold investment plan that will see federal funds injected into the province’s burgeoning industry.

Boissonnault announced the initiative during a press conference held at the Alberta legislature, where he emphasized the importance of strengthening the health tech sector to improve healthcare delivery, enhance patient outcomes, and drive economic growth.

The federal government’s investment plan will provide significant funding to support research and development, accelerate the commercialization of innovative health technologies, and foster collaboration between industry, government, and academic institutions.

“Alberta’s health tech sector is a key driver of innovation and economic prosperity, and it is crucial that we continue to invest in its growth and success,” Boissonnault stated. “The federal government is committed to supporting the development and adoption of cutting-edge health technologies that will ultimately improve the health and well-being of Canadians.”

The announcement has been met with enthusiasm and optimism from leaders in the health tech industry, who believe that the investment will help propel Alberta to the forefront of health innovation in Canada.

“This injection of federal funds will undoubtedly fuel the growth and success of Alberta’s health tech sector,” said Dr. Sarah Smith, CEO of a prominent health tech company based in Edmonton. “We are excited about the opportunities this investment will create for the development and commercialization of groundbreaking health technologies that will benefit patients and healthcare providers alike.”

Boissonnault’s bold investment plan reflects the federal government’s commitment to driving innovation and supporting the growth of vital sectors of the Canadian economy. The infusion of federal funds into Alberta’s health tech industry is expected to yield significant long-term benefits for the province, its residents, and the broader Canadian healthcare system.
