  • Cameron Diaz advocates for normalizing separate bedrooms for married couples and even suggests the possibility of some couples needing two different houses for their individual space.
  • Diaz’s perspective on separate bedrooms changed after marrying Benji Madden, who taught her to value herself more in their relationship.
  • After taking a break from acting, Diaz is set to return to the movie industry with an action comedy titled “Back in Action,” and has been more open about her family and career in recent years.

In a candid interview with Oprah Winfrey, actress Cameron Diaz revealed that she advocates for normalizing separate bedrooms for married couples. The 49-year-old star, who has been married to musician Benji Madden for six years, opened up about her ideal living situation and the benefits of having individual sleeping spaces.

Diaz, known for her roles in films such as “There’s Something About Mary” and “The Holiday,” shared that she and Madden have separate bedrooms in their home, which has been a game-changer for their relationship. “I think it’s a beautiful thing to realize how important it is to have a space for yourself,” she told Winfrey.

The actress explained that having separate bedrooms allows each partner to have their own sanctuary and personal space, and it ultimately strengthens their bond as a couple. “It’s been the best thing for our relationship,” she added.

Diaz also emphasized the importance of normalizing this living arrangement for married couples, as it can help to eliminate the stigma surrounding the idea of sleeping separately. “It’s not a sign of trouble in the marriage, it’s a sign of respect for each other’s needs,” she said.

The Hollywood star shared that she only came to embrace this idea of separate bedrooms after meeting Madden, as she had never considered it before. “It wasn’t until I met my husband that I even considered it. And then it was like, ‘Oh, this is something that we should do,'” she explained.

Diaz encouraged other couples to consider the benefits of having their own sleeping spaces, and to not be afraid to break away from traditional living arrangements. “If you’re in a relationship, there’s going to come a time where you’re going to need to have a place that you go to be your own. If this is what this is, then this is what this is,” she concluded.

As more couples like Diaz and Madden bring attention to the idea of normalizing separate bedrooms, it’s clear that this living arrangement is gaining traction and challenging societal norms about married life.
