After much speculation, today Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed that games like Call of Duty are coming to Xbox Game Pass. Until this morning’s announcement, no one knew if Activision Blizzard’s titles would move to Xbox’s cloud his gaming service. However, Spencer wants to be clear that the work Microsoft and Xbox are doing is for gamers. That means making popular games like Call Of Duty available on Xbox Game Pass to reach as many people as possible.

And it looks like the company wants to finish that before bringing ABK’s games to Game Pass. One thing that seems guaranteed is that Call Of Duty will continue to be available on PlayStation the same day it releases on other platforms. Spencer reassures the players that this is the plan and that he intends to stick to it. His three franchises above are the only ones Spencer has mentioned by name. However, Microsoft and the Xbox team also said they “will make Activision Blizzard’s library of popular games, including Overwatch, Diablo and Call of Duty, available on Game Pass to grow the gaming community for them.”

It’s also possible that older Diablo titles will make an appearance on Game Pass. Both console versions have been around since Diablo II: Resurrected and Diablo III. This is good news for fans of these series, but there is no release date yet. Diablo IV is still ahead, coming in 2023. Overwatch 2 and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II will both release in October. But there’s no guarantee that both will be in Game Pass on his Day Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is still in progress.
This suggests that other franchises besides Call of Duty, Diablo and Overwatch will eventually be included.Activision has plenty of franchises. But Blizzard really has very little. And we can make some pretty good guesses as to which ones are coming. Hearthstone, Heroes Of The Storm, StarCraft, WarCraft, World Of Warcraft all seem like possibilities. Of course, WoW is the best. And it will certainly be interesting to see how things change with being on Game Pass.
