Faroese Telephone and Ericsson claim the 5G mmWave downlink speed record

The results speak for themselves: Faroese Telephone and Ericsson set the new world record in 5G downlink speed. The trial was conducted over a distance of 704 meters with a 400 MHz bandwidth using a phased array antenna that was set up by Ericsson.

This achievement is particularly significant because it proves that 5G is a practical technology that already offers a significant boost in speed and capabilities in connection with mobile broadband. While the current version of 5G is already offering very stable and high-speed connectivity, this new experimental setting suggests a step up into an entirely new arena.

That said, it is worth noting that achieving this kind of measurement in a lab environment is one thing, but the challenge is to ensure commercial deployment for mass usage.
