For iOS and Android, Rocket League Sideswipe is now accessible everywhere

The main difference between the standard version and Sideswipe is that the standard version takes place in a full 3D environment with 360 degree movement and full control over the camera whereas Sideswipe takes place in his 2D plane. That is (but with 3D elements) instead. Therefore, he only has to steer the vehicle on two axes. This greatly simplifies the controls and is perfect for playing on smartphones with limited touch controls.

Developed by Psyonix (owned by Epic Games), Rocket League Sideswipe is now available worldwide on iOS and Android devices. Games range in size from 700 MB to 1 GB depending on platform and device and are available for free. Rocket League Sideswipe is the mobile version of the hugely popular Rocket League for PC and consoles. Like the standard version, Sideswipe is based on the same basic concept of football, but uses a car to control the vehicle and pass the ball into the opponent’s goal and his post.

Highlights

  • After just a few minutes of playthrough, Sideswipe quickly impressed me thanks to its combination of simple controls and exciting, action-packed moments, despite having up to four players on screen. Vehicle customization is also extensive. The game is also very aesthetically impressive with its scalable setting and enjoyable soundtrack.

  • Sideswipe lets you choose to play against a single player or form a team of two players to play against his two other players. The game will automatically matchmake and find the remaining players. After starting, your goal is to win more games by playing against the opposing team. The left joystick controls the vehicle and can move left/right or up/down. It also has controls for increasing speed for a period of time and performing single or double jumps. Use these skills to shoot a comically large ball into an equally large goalpost.
