For soundbar haters, Audio Pro’s new speakers offer a simple and meaningful TV audio enhancement

They’re the latest in a line of potential “soundbar killer” (in her words) speakers from the company, with much cheaper A28 bookshelf speakers and smaller A38 floor-standing speakers rounding out the range, all with the same connectivity. We will provide it, but the punch level will be different. Speaking of punch, the A48 speaker is a 3-way design. This means that, based on our experience with Audio Pro gear, it should deliver a loud, powerful sound with a wide dynamic range.

Audio Pro has announced a brand new wireless speaker aimed squarely at upgrading your TV’s sound in the same way it does music. The Audio Pro A48 floorstanding speaker features HDMI ARC connectivity for direct connection to TVs, Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast. Oh, you can also connect sounds from audio devices. This is still like a speaker. The Audio Pro A48 will be available in his mid-September with a price tag of $1,200 / £1,200.

  • Analysis: What’s Wrong With Soundbars?

  • They’re very focused on being an alternative to one of the best high-end soundbars — that’s money like paying for a Sonos Arc with a subwoofer, or a Sony HT-A7000 — for those who do. Because I don’t like the soundbar idea. They are active speakers. This means that the best turntables can be connected directly (as long as they have a built-in phono stage) because all the necessary amplification is already done. Available in black or white with an optional front grille. You can customize your grill if you want to add your own touch.

But not everyone is happy with how soundbars work. Soundbars are small, and that means they have certain physical limitations on what kind of sound they can offer, especially when it comes to sheer scale and power. Smaller drivers and less volume within the cabinet means less air gets moved. High-end ‘bars get around this by just packing themselves with multiple drivers, which also helps create the multi-direction 3D effect of Dolby Atmos – but this often makes them weaker for sound.

Soundbars are one of the most popular products on the planet right now, for a few reasons – partly because lots of people upgraded their TVs in the last couple of years because a lot more time was suddenly spent at home in the 2020/2021 period for some reason and are now looking for a matching sound upgrade; partly the because Dolby Atmos has become such a buzzword for home theater and the best Dolby Atmos soundbars have become more and more affordable; and partly because of their convenience, in that they just sit on your current TV stand and don’t take up much more of your life.
