  • Israel-1 is expected to provide performance of up to eight exaflops of AI computing, enabling Israeli companies to train faster and create solutions for complex problems. Nvidia aims to work with partners outside Israel in the future.
  • As AI continues to grow rapidly across industries and demands increase for faster computing power, this move by Nvidia is a significant step forward in empowering companies to handle large data sets generated by advanced technologies.

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – Nvidia, a leading manufacturer of computer graphics processors, has announced that it will be building a massive supercomputer in Israel dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) research. The announcement comes as demand for AI technology continues to grow, fueling a race among companies to develop more powerful and efficient computing systems.

The new supercomputer, which will be built at the Tel Aviv University, will be powered by Nvidia’s latest graphics processing units (GPUs) and will boast a computing power of 200 petaflops. This will make it one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world, and the first in Israel dedicated solely to AI research.

The move is part of Nvidia’s broader strategy to invest in AI and machine learning capabilities and to help researchers and developers create more advanced AI systems.

“We’re excited to be working with the Tel Aviv University to bring this supercomputer to Israel and to further advance the development of AI technology,” said Huang Ren, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “We believe that AI will transform every industry and revolutionize the way we work and live, and we’re committed to investing in its growth and development.”

The supercomputer will be available to researchers and developers across Israel, helping to advance research in fields such as healthcare, finance, and autonomous vehicles. In addition, Nvidia plans to partner with local startups and other companies to support the development of new AI applications and services.

“The new supercomputer will serve as a magnet for the best researchers and developers in Israel, and will help us stay at the forefront of AI innovation,” said Dan Peer, Vice President for Research and Development at Tel Aviv University. “We’re thrilled to be working with Nvidia and look forward to seeing the incredible breakthroughs that will emerge from this partnership.”

Construction on the supercomputer is expected to begin in the coming months, with completion slated for 2022.
