One UI 4.1.1 is the latest iteration of Samsung’s Android-based custom software. Debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldables last month, the company has seeded the new One UI version to several other eligible models in recent weeks, including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Tab S8, and the Galaxy Tab S7 series. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 also joined the party recently. Following the rollout in international markets, Samsung is now bringing One UI 4.1.12 to the US versions of its 2021 foldables.

The One UI 4.1.1 update for Samsung’s foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 is now available in the US. With this release, the former is also receiving Android 12L. Since last week, the pair has been receiving the most recent update in overseas markets.

Highlights

  • Of course, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 isn’t getting these features since it’s only as big as a regular smartphone. But One UI 4.1.1 contains more. Samsung is adding a feature that lets you extract text from images. You can easily copy and paste text on other apps. The device even suggests contextual actions based on the content of the text. If it’s a phone number, you’ll be able to place a call directly from there. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also getting new clock styles, video wallpapers, and themes for its cover screen.

  • The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is getting this update with Android 12L. The latter is a special branch of Android Google developed to improve the user experience on devices with big screens, such as tablets and big foldables. It brings tailored features such as a persistent taskbar, new and improved gestures, easy split-screen and pop-up modes, and more. You can pin apps to the taskbar for faster multitasking. You can even pin app pairs to open them in split-screen mode with just a tap.

As of this writing, the One UI 4.1.1 update is rolling out to the carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the US. The new firmware version is F926USQU1DVHB and F711USQU2DVHB, respectively. The carrier-locked variants should also join the party soon. If you’re using either of the two foldables, watch out for a notification about the OTA (over the air) rollout in the coming days. You can also go to the Software update section in Settings and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually.
