Equally important, Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe feels like a kid-engrossing multiplayer his party mayhem, but an experience that just makes you want to relax in Kirby’s happy hours. Not at the expense of rich players.
Kirby’s Return to Dreamland His Deluxe, an enhanced remaster of his Wii game from 2011, is no exception. The upcoming Nintendo Switch release is perhaps one of Kirby’s most relatable adventures, offering a mild challenge for solo players but allowing up to four people at once. Like Bumper Bowling, Return to Dreamland Deluxe can hardly go wrong. There are tons of power-ups and health items to consume, and if you fall off a stage, Kirby (or one of his friends) will be right back in action. Playing on Nintendo Switch is ideal for Nintendo Switch owners who may not be familiar with Joy-Con controllers or have small children who can focus like bow ties. Entering a multiplayer game in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is as easy as exiting the game. Also, each character can be carried or carried by other players.
I recently played Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe at a Nintendo event in New York and greatly enjoyed the chaotic side-scrolling frenzy with his three others. I didn’t have to play solo. Instead, he blasts through levels with sheer four-player power, sucking up bad guys and spitting them out, stealing powers, releasing fireballs, and sometimes turning into giant rolling death snowballs (cute Kirby eyes and!). Every moment felt like uncontrollable chaos. Various colors of Waddle Dee, Meta Knight, and Kirby splattered across the screen, eating and blowing everything away.
As mentioned earlier, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is an updated version of an older game. In terms of content, it looks almost identical to its Wii descendant. But Kirby has a few new copy abilities – his longtime power steal, uh, power – to freshen things up. You can hide or summon a deadly sandcastle. Due to his mecha abilities, Kirby appears to have swallowed a Gundam, throws fireballs, fires powerful laser beams, and flies on a jetpack.
Players can also try new mini-games. I played a target shooting game called Kirbion the Draw, where you use Joy-Con like a laser pointer to defeat targets and aim for a high score. Return to Dream Land Deluxe offers plenty of carnival game-style distractions in Merry Magorand for those bored with the main story mode.
