Kroger makes shopping simpler for those who struggle with technology

  • Kroger is now allowing shoppers to access discounts without the use of a smartphone, in response to demands from consumer groups to stop digital-only incentives. Shoppers can access coupons by visiting a customer service desk or by entering their Kroger Plus card number on the website.
  • Kroger has partnered with Cooler Screens to introduce digital screens across 500 stores, which have been shown to have a positive impact on the shopping experience for 79% of shoppers. In-store media generates an average sales lift of 7.5%, as some campaigns generate lifts of up to 30%.
  • These initiatives are positive steps towards inclusivity for shoppers who don’t use phone apps and offer an opportunity for brands to engage with customers in new and innovative ways as the grocery industry continues to evolve.

Tech-challenged shoppers can now rejoice as Kroger, a leading grocery store chain, has introduced new technologies and services that make it easier for them to shop. The introduction of these new features is expected to revolutionize the shopping experience for seniors, people with disabilities, and anyone else who finds technology challenging.

Kroger has introduced new features such as virtual shopping carts, voice commands, and digital shopping lists that can be accessed through the Kroger app. These features help shoppers navigate the store, locate products, and add them to their virtual carts without having to physically lift them. The app also allows shoppers to build shopping lists, view digital coupons, and get personalized recommendations, making the shopping experience even easier.

In addition to the new tech features, Kroger has also rolled out a “Scan, Bag, Go” service that allows customers to scan items as they shop and pay using a self-checkout kiosk. This eliminates the need for shoppers to carry heavy bags and stand in long checkout lines, making shopping more convenient and accessible for everyone.

These new innovations have been well-received by shoppers, especially those who are older or have disabilities. “I’m not very good with technology, but this app is so easy to use,” said Emily, a senior shopper who has been using the virtual shopping cart feature. “I don’t have to remember where everything is or carry heavy items, and it’s so much faster than regular shopping.”

Kroger is committed to making shopping accessible to all, and the launch of these new features is a testament to that commitment. With these technologies and services in place, Kroger is proving that it is possible to embrace technology without leaving behind those who may find it challenging.
