Tech News Summary:

  • The YouTube channel Linus Tech Hints was hacked, resulting in fraudulent streams and movies posted by the hackers. The hackers were possibly driven by the possibility of profiting from the channel’s more than 15 million users.
  • Hackers also posted Bitcoin giveaway scams that appeared to be supported by well-known brands such as Tesla and LTT. The phishing scams aimed to trick consumers into submitting their cryptocurrency wallet details.
  • All LTT channels are viewing 404 pages, but regular service will soon be restored as LTT is working with the Google team to prevent similar breaches in the future. Linus Sebastian, the owner of LTT, has also revealed that everything has been “shut down” as a result of the breach.

In a recent hacking of the YouTube channel of Linux creator Linus Torvalds, a wave of Bitcoin scams has been promoted to the unsuspecting followers. This unethical and illegal activity is a cause for serious concern.

The hackers gained access to the channel and uploaded multiple fake live streams of Torvalds, where he appeared to be endorsing various Bitcoin scams. The fraudulent streams provided links to websites that looked legitimate and lured victims into investing in Bitcoin schemes.

The scams have seriously undermined the integrity of the Bitcoin industry and have left many victims destitute. As a result, Bitcoin enthusiasts and industry leaders have come out to strongly condemn the malicious actions of the hackers.

The Bitcoin community has repeatedly warned against investing in dubious schemes and has emphasized the need for caution in the cryptocurrency market. It is essential to verify the sources of any investment advice and avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes that promise quick and unsustainable wealth.

While it’s unclear how the hackers managed to gain access to Torvalds’ account, it is clear that they have caused a lot of harm. YouTube has taken action in response to the incident and has removed all the fraudulent streams from the channel.

This serves as a reminder to everyone to be cautious with their accounts and to keep them secure. The Bitcoin industry must also work together to promote safe and ethical practices and to protect the industry from the damaging effects of malicious actors.
