Western Illinois University College of Business and Technology, in partnership with the McDonough County Creation Entrepreneurial Opportunities (CEO) program, welcomes Midland Institute program developer Ryan Follis to campus on Tuesday, October 25th. “The CEO of McDonagh County and the WIU have a close relationship. “Many WIU faculty and staff are CEO program speakers, mentors, and board members. I am very excited to embrace and show the hospitality of Leathernecks.”
In addition to the McDonagh County CEO group, students from Hancock County CEOs and Brown/Schuyler CEOs will attend. The event will bring 50 local high school students to campus. “CEOs are the standard for entrepreneurial education. Students never meet in the classroom, but at the host company,” Follis said. “CEO experience includes over 40 speakers and his 40 business visits, as well as his first ever professional mentoring relationship.”
The CEO program is her one-year course for high school students that teaches entrepreneurship, connects them with local businesses, and gives them the opportunity to start their own businesses. “Students also lead the development and implementation of joint ventures and sole proprietorships that are launched at the annual trade fair. CEO students are regularly sought after by universities and employers looking to develop their skills as learners, owners, creators, communicators and connectors,” said Folis.
