New Report Unveils Instagram as the Most Deleted Social Media App of 2023

  • Instagram was the most deleted app in 2023, with over 10,20,000 people searching for how to delete their account each month.
  • Snapchat saw around 1,30,000 people looking to delete it each month, despite having around 750 million users worldwide.
  • Meta’s Threads app gained 100 million users in five days but saw an 80% drop in daily active users since its launch in July 2023.

In a surprising turn of events, Instagram has been crowned as the most deleted social media app of 2023, according to a new report from Tofido, a leading market research firm.

The report, which analyzed data from millions of users worldwide, found that Instagram topped the list of most deleted social media apps, with an astonishing 40% of users removing the app from their devices. This is a significant increase from previous years, when Instagram was consistently one of the most popular social media platforms.

The reasons behind the mass exodus from Instagram are varied, with many users citing concerns over privacy, mental health, and the platform’s ever-changing algorithms. Additionally, the rise of alternative social media platforms, such as TikTok and Clubhouse, has also contributed to Instagram’s decline in popularity.

“Instagram has long been a powerhouse in the social media world, but it seems that users are starting to become disillusioned with the platform,” said a spokesperson for Tofido. “The fact that 40% of users have deleted the app is a concerning trend for the company, and it will be interesting to see how they respond to this shift in user behavior.”

While Instagram may be experiencing a decline in user numbers, it’s important to note that the platform still boasts an impressive 1 billion monthly active users. However, with the rise of new and innovative social media platforms, the landscape of social media is ever-changing, and Instagram will need to adapt in order to remain relevant in the years to come.
