Newport News PD Explores Cutting-Edge Tech at Axon Roadshow to Enhance Community Safety

Newport News, Virginia – In a bid to enhance community safety and streamline law enforcement processes, the Newport News Police Department (NNPD) recently attended the Axon Roadshow to explore the latest cutting-edge technologies offered by Axon, the global leader in connected public safety technologies. The roadshow aimed to provide local law enforcement agencies with a hands-on experience of Axon’s innovative solutions and how they can revolutionize the way police departments operate.

With community safety being a top priority for the NNPD, the Axon Roadshow acted as the perfect platform to showcase the most advanced tools available to law enforcement agencies today. The event featured a range of demonstrations and presentations on Axon’s comprehensive suite of solutions, including body cameras, connected devices, cloud-based software, and data management systems.

One of the highlights of the roadshow was the Axon Body 3, the latest body camera technology offered by Axon. Equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities, enhanced battery life, and improved video and audio quality, the Axon Body 3 aims to provide law enforcement officers with a reliable and efficient tool to gather evidence and maintain officer accountability.

“Technology plays a critical role in the ever-evolving landscape of law enforcement,” said Chief Steve R. Drew, Newport News Police Department. “The Axon Roadshow has allowed our officers to experience the latest innovations that can help us better serve and protect our community. We are excited about the potential these cutting-edge technologies hold for us.”

Apart from body cameras, the NNPD also explored Axon’s suite of connected devices, which include in-car camera systems and TASER devices. These integrated systems aim to provide officers with seamless connectivity and real-time data sharing, enabling them to make informed decisions in the field.

Moreover, Axon’s cloud-based software, Evidence.com, was also demonstrated during the roadshow. The software allows for secure storage, retrieval, and analysis of digital evidence, simplifying the tedious process of evidence management for law enforcement agencies.

“The Axon Roadshow was a great opportunity for us to visualize how these technologies can transform our workflows and ultimately enhance community safety,” said Captain Michelle Jones of the Newport News Police Department. “The potential to seamlessly collect, store, and analyze evidence is truly game-changing.”

The NNPD is now actively evaluating the potential implementation of various Axon technologies within their department. If adopted, these cutting-edge solutions have the potential to significantly enhance operational efficiency, improve officer safety, and ultimately foster stronger relationships with the Newport News community.

As technology continues to evolve, the Newport News Police Department remains committed to exploring cutting-edge solutions like those presented at the Axon Roadshow, ensuring that they stay at the forefront of community safety initiatives.
