  • Nvidia and MediaTek have partnered to develop technology for advanced vehicle infotainment systems that can stream video and interact with drivers. This gives Nvidia greater access to the $12bn market for infotainment system-on-chips and allows MediaTek systems to be compatible with automated driving systems using Nvidia technology.
  • The partnership will enable dashboard displays to show the environment around the vehicle, while cameras monitor the driver, which is a significant step towards the development of smart cars. In-vehicle displays and entertainment systems are becoming more complex as automakers add features such as gaming, driver monitoring, and displays related to automated driving.
  • The partnership is expected to yield significant benefits for both companies, allowing for the development of more advanced and innovative features that will enhance the driving experience and pave the way for the future of smart cars. Qualcomm, MediaTek’s chief rival in the smartphone market, is also developing connected car technology, which intensifies the competition between the two companies.

In a move that is set to revolutionize the automotive industry, tech giants Nvidia and MediaTek have announced a partnership to develop next-generation connected car technologies. The two companies will work together to create powerful and energy-efficient systems-on-chips (SoCs), which will enable carmakers to implement advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), autonomous driving capabilities, and other connected car features.

The collaboration will draw on the strengths of both companies, with Nvidia bringing its expertise in AI and deep learning to the table, and MediaTek contributing its expertise in wireless communications and integrated circuit design. The joint effort will result in an advanced platform that can process large amounts of data in real-time, enabling the car to provide accurate and reliable information to the driver.

“By joining forces, Nvidia and MediaTek are creating a powerful platform that can bring the most advanced features to the automotive industry,” said Jim Anderson, CEO of MediaTek. “Our SoCs will combine high-performance processing with low power consumption, which is essential for connected car applications.”

The partnership will also help to bring down the cost of developing connected car technologies. “We’re excited to partner with MediaTek to bring AI-powered automotive features to customers worldwide,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia. “By collaborating, we’ll be able to accelerate product development and bring these capabilities to market faster and at lower cost.”

The announcement comes at a time when the automotive industry is undergoing a massive transformation, with the shift towards electric, connected, and autonomous vehicles. The partnership between Nvidia and MediaTek is a significant step towards realizing the vision of a more sustainable, safe, and efficient transportation system.
