Store for Xbox Mobile Microsoft iTunes and Google Play Contest of Rivals Activision Blizzard is the subject of a CMA UK investigation

  • To compete with the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, Microsoft is developing the Xbox Mobile Store. Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion is being looked into by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), who also revealed intentions to launch an Xbox-branded mobile gaming store. The tech titan can utilize his mobile smashes, Candy Crush Saga and Call of Duty: Mobile, created by Activision and King, respectively, to establish the game store.

The mobile gaming industry has a much larger share with him at 51% of the total gaming market. Due to Apple’s restrictions on third-party app stores on iOS, it’s impossible to view the Microsoft store on an iPhone. But it’s clear that that hasn’t stopped plans for the Xbox Mobile App Store.

By agreeing to a set of policies, the company has set a framework for developers to independently manage their own app stores and offer their own payment methods to process in-game transactions on the Xbox mobile platform. This is a feature that Apple does not provide.

Earlier this year in January, Microsoft announced that he would acquire Activision Blizzard for his $68.7 billion in cash. The move will make Microsoft the third largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony. The acquisition will accelerate the growth of Microsoft’s mobile, PC, console and cloud gaming businesses and could also provide building blocks for the Metaverse.

Satya Nadella, chairman and CEO of Microsoft, said in a statement at the time, “Gaming is the most dynamic and exciting entertainment category on any platform today and will play a key role in the evolution of the Metaverse platform. “We invest heavily in world-class content, community and cloud, putting players and developers first, and making our games safe, inclusive and accessible to all.” We will usher in a new gaming era,” he added.
