The “Elden Ring” soundtrack will feature live jazz

  • I have some curiously specific but very wonderful news for you if you have ever listened to Elden Ring’s overbearing operatic music and thought, man, this would be even great with more saxophones. Elden Ring: A Night in the Lands Between, which is scheduled on December 3, will feature live jazz music played by a band that includes Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kenny Garrett and Japanese trumpeter Takuya Kuroda. The soundtrack from the popular videogame will be adapted into live jazz music.

In order to provide fans an alternative opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich, captivating universe that has occupied their gaming days and nights this past year, we are delivering this totally unprecedented live and livestreamed jazz concert as a way to honour Elden Ring’s extraordinary success.

“While rock n’ roll and even symphonic music have been used as variants on videogame soundtracks, our A Night in the Lands Between jazz event is exploring a totally unique approach to the Elden Ring soundtrack. Jazz great Kenny Garrett and up-and-coming artist Takuya Kuroda are both truly world-class musicians who are well-respected and well-known by jazz fans all over the world. They are now combining their individual skills to give birth to a fresh, innovative approach to fusing music and videogames.”

On December 3, there will be two performances at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood, at 6 pm and 10 pm PT. The good news is that everything is livestreamed for those of us who can not attend in person. Unfortunately, in order to watch, you will need a ticket: The webcast will initially be accessible to everyone via standard channels. I had believed it would be accessible, but eldenringlive.com informed me that I would need to purchase a ticket in order to see it: $25 for the “memorial ticket,” which provides basic access, plus $50 for the digital soundtrack. It will cost you $15 if all you want is VOD. ( Although it is not specified in the price list, we anticipate that the “live watching” ticket also includes access to VOD.

This is depressing. Elden Ring and Jazz are two things I adore, however I am not sure buying just Jazz Elden Ring for its novelty is worth $50. If you are a great fan of either, however, this could be the ultimate intersection of interests. Hopefully, at least one or two of the songs will be uploaded on YouTube for the remainder of the event.
