  • the Frankfurt Internet Exchange is the first Internet exchange in the world to use new Nokia line cards to enable 800 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) access technology. The Apollon platform DE-CIX, which was introduced in Frankfurt in 2013 and upgraded to 400 GE technology in 2019, serves as the foundation for Turbo Boost. Thomas King, Chief Technology Officer, DE-CIX, stated that the launch of 800 GE access technological “reinforces our commitment to being a technology pioneer.”

Nokia and DE-CIX have been partners for almost a decade, and DE-CIX CEO Ivo Ivanov said the partnership would allow the company to “be the first to commercialize the latest technological developments.” said. “The dawn of the 800GE era will enable DE-CIX-connected companies and organizations to create innovative use cases they never dreamed possible,” he added.

DE-CIX adds that the recent expansion is a result of growing customer demand for higher bandwidth. This year alone, peak throughput increased by nearly 30% from his. The operator offers connectivity services in over 40 metro markets across Europe, Africa, North America, the Middle East, India and Southeast Asia.
