For October 2022, Sony has officially revealed free PlayStation Plus games. The lineup for the following month will include three different books. Although there are few exceptions, Sony normally announces new PlayStation Plus free games on the last Wednesday of every month, with games being added on the first Tuesday of the following month.
On Tuesday, October 4th, the newest free PS Plus game was released, and exactly that took place. Even better, because of the PS5’s backwards compatibility feature for PS Plus customers, all three games will be accessible on both the PS4 and PS5.
Hot Wheels Unleashed, Injustice 2, and Superhot are the three free PlayStation Plus games for October 2022. Injustice 2 and Superhot are only available for the PS4, however PS Plus members can play the PS5 version of Hot Wheels Unleashed if they can get their hands on the company’s next-generation machine.
A racing game based on a well-known toy line, Hot Wheels Unleashed, was published last year to generally negative reviews. The most recognizable heroes and villains from DC Comics are pitted against one another in the critically acclaimed fighting game Injustice 2 from Mortal Kombat creators NetherRealm Studios. Last but not least, Superhot is a first-person shooter with a distinctive hook. When the player and his character advance in Superhot, time stops, which gives Carnage a certain puzzle-solving aspect.
It is unknown if Sony will formally release new PS Plus Extra and Premium games for October 2022 in the coming days or if it will hold off until the end of the month. With PS Plus Titles in September 2022, we departed from this trend and announced all of the new PS Plus Extra and Premium games at once. Previously, we would reveal new PS Plus Extra and Premium games around the middle of the month.
Overall, the list of free PS Plus titles for October 2022 appears to be strong, although it is unclear how PS Plus users will respond to the offer. There is no need to worry about Premium games, since Sony has stated that the unveiling of the more expensive service would occur “later this month.”
