The registry authority disputes the hacking of the national identification database

Al-Tuman acknowledged that every piece of data is safeguarded in compliance with data integrity standards, according to the media office of the Government of National Unity.

According to Tariq Al-Tuman, the head of the Civil Status Authority, the reports of a hacking of the Libyan civil registration system are rumours.

  • Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, the attorney general, recently reported the finding of 63,986 fake national identification numbers. He explained that these numbers are fake and do not exist in the Civil Registration System.

  • On Tuesday, Facebook activists alleged that a database of the nation’s national ID numbers was being offered for sale on the dark web for $25,000.
