The roast with Senator Bill Coleman is programmed by the Pioneer Technology Center Foundation

  • The popular annual Pioneer Tech Foundation Roast is scheduled for Thursday, November 3rd.

PTC Foundation President Mary Austin announced this year that Senator Bill Coleman will be removed from office. The mission of this event is to raise funds for Pioneer Technology Center student scholarships. This fun event will be held at Pioneer Tech’s new Conference Center, which was added during the construction of the Westward Expansion. There is a social/cash bar at 5:30 PM and dinner at 6:30 PM.

A single ticket is $50 and a table of eight seats is $500. A second generation broadcaster, Coleman has been in the industry for over 40 years. His resume includes Announcer, Program He Director, Chief He Operator, Account He Executive, Sales and General Manager and is now an Owner.

Coleman moved to Ponca City in 1979 to help his father Louis Coleman, who died when he was 18. He helped his father launch radio station KPNC, which began airing on his June 5th of this year. After the station was sold in 1983, he continued working as a morning disc jockey and salesman. He remained there until 1988.

KPNC’s owner, Ken Greenwood, called Coleman in 1991 and asked him to return to the station as the new general manager. Over the next decade, he acquired four more radio stations, including KLOR in Ponca City and KOKB in Blackwell. In 2004, Coleman purchased all shares in Team His Radio from his partners, becoming the sole owner of the company. Coleman is past president of the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters and the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce.

In 1988 he left Ponca City to work for KIKM’s Sherman/Dennison market and was later promoted to general manager.

He is a former director of the National Broadcasting Corporation of Washington, D.C. It represents member stations in Oklahoma and North Texas.

He was elected to the Oklahoma Senate in August 2018 and serves on the Business, Commerce and Tourism Commission as Vice Chairman of Public Safety, Regulations and Transportation. He is a member of his Christian Church in Woodlands and has been married to his wife Helen for 20 years. They have daughter Haley in Oklahoma City, Kali in Oklahoma City, son Kavin in Ponca City, and granddaughter Athena in Ponca City.
