Nintendo has taken the Nintendo Switch Sports servers offline while they work to fix bugs found in the 1.2.1 update. This will temporarily disable the online functionality of the game. Nintendo made an announcement on Twitter, stating that a bug had caused some players to exit the game at the pre-game loading screen.
“We found an error in the #NintendoSwitchSports Ver1.2.1 update that caused the software to exit on the pre-game loading screen,” the tweet reads. “Unfortunately, this affects both online and offline game modes. As a result, we have temporarily halted the rollout of this update.
“While we search for a solution, the #NintendoSwitchSports servers will be temporarily offline, during which online play will be unavailable. Data backups will also be temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. “Nintendo didn’t provide a timeline for when players can expect the game’s servers to come back online.
It’s also a shame because, as Andy Brown explains in his four-star review for NME, this game is a worthy successor to his Wii Sports mantle. Brown said the games’ sports collection was “a bit mixed”, but praised football and bowling, the latter being a particular favorite of the original Wii sports.
