The Xbox team rolled out a new console update. Users can expect some new quality of life features. The biggest of these now allows users to control the TV volume from the console itself. You’ll see a “TV Volume” option. It’s a simple little addition, but it’s meant to help gamers quickly adjust the volume without having to hunt for their TV remote.
Last month, Alpha users had the option to mute the console startup sound. As of today’s update, this option is now available to all users. For those who like to play late at night while others are sleeping in their homes or apartments, this is a very welcome new feature. Xbox users can find this option under General, Additional Options, Power & Startup section. Fans have been asking for this for quite some time!
In addition to these changes, Xbox has updated some controller firmware, changed some power mode names, and made some other changes. The Xbox apps for iOS and Android have also been updated to allow users to trim the length of video clips, making it easier to highlight the exact gameplay moment you’re aiming for. None of these changes are dramatic, but Xbox is always making tweaks to improve the overall gaming experience.
Many small additions and features like this add to make the hardware more enjoyable to use. The blog post outlining these additions also makes it clear that Xbox wants to learn more about the kinds of changes users are asking for. Personally, I’d love to see an option to power up the console with Xbox headphones and controllers only if the option is enabled. For now, we just have to see what the November update brings.
