A group of local school teachers have undergone a technology integration program to transform the learning environment in their classrooms.
Alexander City schools rewarded five teachers this week for completing technology training this week. The principal announces the achievement during the regular school board meeting on Tuesday, September 20.
ACS technology integration expert, Brigitte McCawley, told the school board about the program some teachers have been involved in, known as the “coaching cycle”. The program is designed for teachers to assess their classroom practices and environments to assess how technology can be better integrated. “That’s where my role intertwines and overlaps with the academic side of things,” says McCawley.
“Because if our pedagogy, curriculum design, and environment are not built for true technology integration, including classroom management, including social skills [and] emotional, then that won’t work.”
“It [Coaching Cycle] focuses on three purportedly proposed areas, namely the alignment of academic standards that protect integration, student-centered components that protect integration and learning engagement defends integration.”
The coaching cycle stems from the technology integration model of the school system for continuous improvement, a model of the school system that will be implemented in 2021.
