Users who even have a remote suspicion that they have a 980 Pro or 990 Pro in their setup should download the most recent firmware version from Samsung’s free SSD performance tool Magician because older firmware is reportedly killing drives mass-scale.
It’s a bad time to own a Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVME drive because a similar problem affecting those SSDs was also discovered and resolved earlier this month.
Beyond the released updates, which lack patch notes, Samsung has been less than accommodating with regard to providing support for impacted users.
