Apple finds security holes that reveal users’ precise location

An urgent software update from Apple has been released in response to security flaws that make it possible for social media sites to track your position more precisely than ever. Apple customers are encouraged to take precautions as well by cybersecurity experts.

Highlights

  • “There’s ‘coarse location data’ which is basically where in the city you are..” he said, “And then there’s ‘precise location data’, which is right down to the actual seat in a library and that’s all being communicated through servers.”

  • Your phone can be tracked by servers in two ways.
