Naughty Dog Vice President Christian Gyrling writes in the official PlayStation Blog that “although PlayStation 5 remains our core platform,” “we saw the idea of bringing our games to PC as a terrific chance to reach a new vast, worldwide audience.” This article was written in response to the October 19 debut of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves PC collection.
Gyrling begins by explaining why the Naughty Dog team chose to start by releasing the fourth Uncharted game on PC rather than the first: “When considering what to debut on PC with, we looked through our catalog and decided the beautiful, globetrotting stories of the Uncharted series felt like a natural fit to introduce to players all around the world.”
In spite of the fact that the original three Nathan Drake adventures on the PlayStation 3 system still hold up narratively, Gyrling says, “we believed that they would need a big upgrade visually to live up to modern PC releases and the expectations players may have.”
Although Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy are included in the Legacy of Thieves collection, Gyrling also notes in the PlayStation blog post that the Uncharted series consists of standalone experiences that gamers of all experience levels may leap into. Therefore, even though playing the first three games will help you build your character, you do not need to rely on them to enjoy this new collection.
This is not the only Naughty Dog title coming to PC soon; The Last of Us Part 1, which was just launched for the PS5 and is a remaster of the PS3 version of the game that first debuted in 2013, will also be available there soon. Unfortunately, no release date has been set yet.
