Today, Guilford County Schools in North Carolina and Evolv Technology, a pioneer in AI-based weapon detection security validation, announced a partnership. Beginning with the 2022–2023 academic year, roughly 20 high schools in the district will use Evolv’s cutting-edge Evolv Express screening service.
After he confirmed the successful use of the Evolv Express in the adjacent Charlotte Mecklenburg school system, the district asked his Evolv Technology to help students use his Evolv Express to help screen for potential threats. I talked about how to get them into school.
Faster and better security with Evolv Express as people can walk through while the system detects and locates hidden weapons without the need to constantly stop or undergo invasive screening process becomes possible. Traditional school metal detectors expose students to a manual screening process that can cause congestion at entrances and delays in starting classes, making students feel unsafe and unsafe. Evolv Express eliminates the need for intrusive, hands-on security checks earlier in the day.
“The Evolv system allows us to further improve school safety without compromising the learning environment,” said Mike Ritchie, Guildford County Schools Executive Director of Emergency Management. “We successfully rolled out the system to all high schools at the beginning of the school year and now use it for sporting events and other large gatherings.”
Guilford County schools use 44 Evolv Express Screening Systems in 19 high schools. This technology will help protect tens of thousands of students, educators and staff in his third-largest school district in the state. In addition to being used in schools in Charlotte Mecklenburg, Evolv Express is currently in use in more than 26 schools across the United States, including schools in Spartanburg, South Carolina; Fayette County, West Virginia; and Champaign, Illinois. Evolv Technology CEO Peter George said: “Working with a growing list of schools in Guildford County and across the country is central to that vision and allows schools to remain focused on providing quality education.”
