Tech News Summary:

  • CERT-In has issued a high-risk warning for vulnerabilities in Google Chrome OS, posing significant risks to users of versions prior to 114.0.5735.350 on the LTS channel.
  • The vulnerabilities have the potential to be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code, gain elevated privileges, bypass security restrictions, or cause denial of service conditions on the target system.
  • To protect against these vulnerabilities, Cert-In strongly recommends users to update their Google Chrome OS installations to the latest version, which includes security fixes from Google.

The government has issued a high severity warning urging all users of the Google Chrome web browser to update to the latest version immediately. The warning comes after a critical security vulnerability was discovered in the popular browser that could potentially be exploited by hackers to gain unauthorized access to users’ personal data.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released a statement urging all Chrome users to update to version 91.0.4472.101 or later as soon as possible to protect themselves from potential cyber attacks. The agency stressed the importance of staying vigilant and taking proactive measures to ensure the security of personal information and sensitive data.

The security vulnerability was identified as a flaw in Chrome’s memory management system that could potentially be exploited to execute arbitrary code within the browser, posing a significant threat to users’ privacy and security. As a result, CISA is encouraging all Chrome users to take immediate action to safeguard their online activities and minimize the risk of falling victim to cyber attacks.

In response to the warning, Google has released an update addressing the security vulnerability and is urging all Chrome users to install the latest version to mitigate the potential risks. The company has also emphasized the importance of staying up to date with software updates and security patches to ensure the continued protection of users’ personal information.

Users are advised to check for updates within the Chrome browser or download the latest version directly from the official Google website to ensure that their browsing experience remains secure and free from potential security threats. Failure to do so could leave users vulnerable to exploitation by cybercriminals seeking to compromise their personal data and privacy.
