Highlights

  • As for spatial audio, Apple says the AirPods Pro will feature personalized spatial audio to create a more personalized listening experience for your ears. Transparency mode has also been improved to adapt to any ambient sounds you encounter. There are new personalized spatial audio features and touch swipe controls on the stem for added pinch control. While some may be disappointed that Apple didn’t improve the design of the AirPods Pro 2 (there are some improvements in the microphone configuration, and a few other smaller improvements, including vents), AirPods Pro are generally second generation. Expect AirPods Pro to offer better sound, better noise cancellation, longer battery life, and a wireless charging case with some advanced features.

  • The new AirPods Pro follow the original noise-cancelling model that debuted in October 2019. They’re powered by Apple’s new H2 chip, which Apple says offers more processing power while also being more energy efficient. A new chip paired with a new low-distortion driver improves the sound for greater clarity and depth. Noise cancellation has also improved – Apple says the new AirPods have “twice as much” noise cancellation as the original his AirPods Pro. Some people hoped the new AirPods Pro could stream Apple Lossless tracks wirelessly. Apple hasn’t said anything about this, but some features may be revealed at a later date. For example, in the original AirPods Pro, Apple didn’t introduce spatial audio until months after its release.
