Announced today that it will supply electronic suspension technology for Li Auto’s upcoming luxury electric SUV, the L9. Tenneco’s Advanced Suspension Technologies (AST) business manufactures Monroe Intelligent Suspension CVSAe electronic dampers for new luxury models.
The L9 is his second production model from the intelligent electric vehicle manufacturer based in Beijing, China, and his third model with his CVSAe technology by his OEM in China.
CVSAe electronic damping technology continuously adapts to changing road conditions based on data provided by multiple onboard ride control sensors. An electronic control unit (ECU) processes sensor inputs and individually adjusts electronic valves on each of the system’s four dampers for optimal handling and comfort.
Drivers can choose their preferred driving mode, from comfort-oriented to sporty. Adopted by the world’s leading automakers in more than 75 of his vehicle models, the technology requires minimal power, making it ideal for battery-powered and hybrid models.
CVSAe technology is compatible with vehicles equipped with coil springs and air suspension and can be used with shock absorbers and/or MacPherson struts. The CVSAe damper module for the L9 is manufactured at Tenneco’s plant in Changzhou, China.
“Automakers in virtually every region of the world are recognizing the significant benefits of CVSAe technology,” said Henrik Johansson, Tenneco’s AST vice president and general manager. “The solution offers a very wide tuning range, allowing OEMs to precisely tune the ride and handling profile of virtually any size and type of passenger vehicle.
The all-new facility will begin production for the first time in 2021 and will feature state-of-the-art design, manufacturing and testing capabilities for advanced suspension systems for both conventional powertrain and BEV applications.
