As for which PlayStation characters could take his place, we don’t know. Not many PlayStation characters seem like a good fit for Mortal Kombat 12 other than Kratos’ popularity in God of War, who appeared in the 2011 episode. Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth would also be a good choice, but in character timing levels aren’t very relevant, though with a Twisted Metal TV show in the works and a new game reportedly also in development, that could soon change.

Ultimately, Mortal Kombat and PlayStation fans shouldn’t expect to see Ellie from The Last of Us in Mortal Kombat 12 or any future games. Well, Mortal Kombat boss Ed Boon doesn’t want to see any character deaths. This might seem obvious since Ellie was a teenager in the first Last of Us game, but in the sequel she’s actually 19, which opens the door for her to play a game like Mortal Kombat twelfth. It’s unclear how serious Ed Boon is here and if fans should really take this to mean that Ellie is not among the guest characters in Mortal Kombat 12, but that’s how many people accept it.
