Overwatch 2’s launch week was a huge success, drawing tens of millions of players along the way. Overwatch 2 has been one of his most anticipated games on the horizon for quite some time. While not as dramatic a leap as other video game sequels, it did bring in some changes that fans wanted, including the fact that the game was free to play.
The sequel also continued to expand over time, His PvE mode is expected in 2023. Many players jumped in, ready to see what Blizzard had in store for the sequel, but were met with a rather chaotic launch week. Overwatch 2 was immediately hit by a DDoS attack, causing server issues for much of its launch week. There were also controversial changes that ruined the excitement of some fans, such as the phone number required to log in, bugs, and more.
However, despite its problems, Blizzard managed to pull off some sheer numbers.Thanks to Overwatch 2 being free-to-play and general hype, the game never launched. It has been confirmed to attract a whopping 25 million players per week. It’s a pretty surprising achievement given all the negative press surrounding the game, but those who were able to attend had positive things to say about the actual game itself.
As a thank you, everyone who logs into the game between October 25th and the end of Season 1 will receive a new Reaper skin and weapon charm. Plus, there’s a weekend where his XP is doubled on the following dates.
