This office has a number of responsibilities, one of which is to advise Pokémon Company President Tsunekazu Ishihara and the management team on the company’s long-term strategic direction.
The list, intended for corporate development managers, describes the “tool role” in the office of the company president and develops the company.
The mission is to “lead the identification, evaluation and implementation of investments, strategic projects and partnerships” to support the long-term growth of the company, and to “monitor and evaluate technologies and market players as well as trends in gaming, media and entertainment”.
Under the heading titled “what you will bring,” the job listing states that the preferred candidate will have, among other things, “in-depth knowledge and understanding of Web 3, including blockchain and NFT technologies, and/or metaverse”. He also added that they must be “deeply connected to the network of investors and entrepreneurs in the aforementioned technology sectors”.
An NFT is a single, non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a blockchain (a form of digital ledger), that allows users to buy and sell digital products such as game items or works of art effectively.
While this is by no means a confirmation that The Pokémon Company is planning to release an NFT series of Pokémon or a new Pokémon game using blockchain, it does at least indicate that the company is investigating the technology.
