For users that wanted to watch brief videos, YouTube introduced “Shorts” in September 2020. Recently, YouTube updated its Android and iOS apps with additional functionality including pinch-to-zoom and video navigation.
Following user feedback, YouTube has now revealed that they will be adding separate tabs for short movies, live streaming, and videos on their channel homepage. As users browse the creator’s channel or website, the firm claims the update will “make it easier for viewers to find the types of material they are most interested in.”
The Videos tab now contains only long videos, while the Short tab contains only short films, and the Live tab shows past, current, and upcoming live streams.
This update may also appeal to long-time YouTube users who didn’t like the idea of live streams and short films cluttering up their Videos tab. If you click on a creator’s name while watching a short video, the app will take you to your channel’s short video tab instead of the videos tab.
the update will be rolled out gradually and will be available to all users in the coming weeks, so it may take some time to reach your devices.
