  • Today, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and ARTIDIS AG established a strategic partnership to research ARTIDIS technology as a cutting-edge tool for treating solid tumor patients in a variety of different indications. The ARTIDIS atomic force microscopy (AFM) technology, which is backed by prior scientific evidence, instantly captures the physical characteristics of cells and their surroundings at the nanoscale level while preserving the tissue for use in the future.

As part of the agreement, researchers from MD Anderson and ARTIDIS will jointly assess, on the ARTIDISNET platform, the combination of nano-scale physical tumor features and related clinical data to help find biomarker signatures that imply the most effective therapy trajectories.

With an initial focus on neoadjuvant applications for chemotherapy and radiotherapy/immunotherapy, ARTIDIS hopes to create evidence supporting later regulatory filings in solid tumors through collaboration with specialists in MD Anderson’s Divisions of Radiation Oncology and Surgery.

Researchers from MD Anderson and ARTIDIS will collaborate on clinical utility studies as part of the research agreement to help determine the best uses for the device. In order to facilitate the inclusion of the ARTIDIS test in national cancer guidelines and standard of care, the ARTIDIS team is investigating approaches to generate biomarkers. The ARTIDIS system will be put to the test in validation and proof-of-concept trials by MD Anderson doctors to determine its suitability as a tool to forecast treatment outcomes in a variety of solid tumor indications.

The strategic partnership with MD Anderson expands upon an earlier sponsored research arrangement with MD Anderson’s James Welsh, MD, Professor of Radiation Oncology, with a focus on studying immunotherapy resistance and response.

We are honored to collaborate with MD Anderson to show how the nanomechanical character of cancerous tissue accurately predicts which cancers will metastasis and how they will respond to treatment. The greatest cancer treatment alternatives will continue to be actively promoted by us.

Additionally, ARTIDIS has demonstrated that nanomechanical alterations in cancer tissues may serve as important indicators of the invasiveness of the disease as well as the effectiveness of treatment. In a prospective analysis of 545 individuals employing nanomechanical profiling to evaluate benign and malignant breast tumors, this finding was clinically verified. Additionally, the ARTIDIS results indicate that nanomechanical modifications.
