The Pixel 7 Pro’s most contentious design decision might be reversed by the Google Pixel 8 Pro

The Pixel 7 already had a flat display, so it’s no surprise that the Pixel 8 also has a flat display. The new pixels also have softer corners and may appear thicker than the current model, but this may depend on the renderer’s perspective.

In a new image that OnLeaks posted on his Twitter, you can see that the Pixel 8 Pro’s corners are also rounded, with a much larger radius of curve than his Pixel 7 Pro. What’s even more interesting is that the display loses the curve of his Pixel 7 Pro and doesn’t overlap the side rails. This model is set to get a smaller 6.5-inch display (up from 6.7), so perhaps by losing the curve, the Pixel 8 Pro could feel a lot different than the current Pro Pixel.

An additional clarification that OnLeaks makes in these tweets is that the border around the render should not be interpreted as the bezel of the display, which is good news as the current render looks chunky.

Curved displays aren’t as common as they used to be. Smartphone enthusiasts are often vocal about flat screen phones due to the risk of touch errors, screen damage, and screen distortion. However, some phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, show the benefits of curved displays, both in terms of phone appearance and ergonomics. Looking back at the original render set, we can see that even with these changes, the new pixels still look perfectly pixelated. Similar to the glossy/matte hood sides on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the horizontal camera bar also appears to remain and is covered in metal like the Pixel 7 series.

Like his Pixel 7 last year, Google could unveil the design of his Pixel 8 at Google I/O on May 10th. But new features and other hardware changes probably won’t be announced until the official release, which usually happens in October. Rumored upgrades so far include the Tensor G3 chipset and improvements to the camera’s ‘staggered’ HDR.

With over half a year until the expected arrival of the Pixel 8, rather than waiting months for the admittedly attractive Pixel 8 series, try the best Android phones out there and make the most of your money now. is recommended.
