Xbox anticipates potential price increases for consoles and Game Pass

  • Microsoft refers to Xbox Game Pass as “the best deal for gaming,” but it appears like the offer may become even more enticing in the future. Speaking at WSJ Live, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer discussed the cost of Xbox systems and Xbox Game Pass, hinting that the firm may eventually have to increase costs “for certain things.” Although it is unknown if it will, Spencer declared that he had no intention of doing so over the holiday season.

When Sony announced plans to raise the price of the PlayStation 5 console earlier this year, the announcement made news across the majority of the globe. Considering that the cost of the majority of consoles has decreased over time, it was surprised that this decision expressly omitted the United States. The cost of Meta Quest 2 has also gone up by $100. Microsoft may eventually have to follow suit, but for now, it is evident that the worldwide inflation issue and the chip shortages continue to have a significant influence on the video game business.

Game Pass will be a key part of Xbox’s strategy and help to draw more gamers into the Xbox universe. The Xbox Series S has been quite well received in that regard, and Microsoft confirmed this week that over half of its buyers have never bought an Xbox. The $299 price of the console and the Xbox Game Pass are primarily to blame. If the price of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Game Pass memberships increases, Microsoft will need to be very careful to find the right price point. But if you are thinking about acquiring one of the company’s consoles, I strongly suggest you to do it right away!
