Before Apple Event, information on smart AirPods Pro 2 leaked

First, ignore the flashy red color scheme. As O`Hara explains in his answer, this is purely to make features more visible, and not a sign that Apple intends to adopt the Product Red color across his AirPods lineup. Otherwise, there are some things we talked about earlier, such as the lower speaker grille. This is rumored to add the AirPods Pro 2 case to Apple’s Find My network, making it easier to find by making a sound when in range.

Technically, the original AirPods Pro are on the older end of the spectrum. Released in the days leading up to the 2019 pandemic, Apple is finally ready to unveil the second generation at his Sept. 7 Apple event alongside the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch 8. This undoubtedly includes improved sound quality and the possibility of adding fitness tracking, but a newly leaked CAD rendering (open in new tab) by Apple Insider Andrew O’Hara is justified.

Highlights

  • There is one more interesting detail. Opposite the speaker grill on the bottom of the case is a mysterious single hole that looks like a microphone. The question is, why would you want something like this in an earbud case, but MacRumors (opens in new tab) has a theory. It may be because of Apple’s Live Listen Accessibility feature (opens in new tab). This is where the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch’s microphone sends audio directly to someone’s AirPods, and if it doesn’t cost too much to implement, it makes sense to incorporate this directly into the case itself.

  • There also appears to be a lanyard hook that allows users to attach the AirPods case to a keychain.Judging by the number of people who recently replied to O’Hara that he lost his current AirPods, these two Innovation may not be a bad idea at all. The CAD design doesn’t make it clear whether the charging port is Lightning or USB-C. However, a recent report suggests that this could be Apple’s own cable swan song.

You’ll find out in no time. Apple’s next event is scheduled for Wednesday in a few days, and while the AirPods Pro 2 aren’t as secure as the iPhone 14, we wouldn’t be surprised to see new wireless earbuds show up during the keynote.
