New virtual reality game center opens in downtown Tulsa. The new Aaru Gaming Center will include a VR arcade, cafe and bar, and an omni deck where gamers can fully immerse themselves in the world of VR on his 16-sided motorized treadmill.
Located near Archer and Cheyenne, organizers say it’s a growing tech district.
Owner Shai his Kaiser says the space is unique not just in Tulsa, but in the whole world.
“All other models are owned or used by military, government or academic research groups. So we’re going to use it in video games.
Each room increases the player’s freedom of movement.
In addition to the Omni Deck, Aaru has these separate spaces that allow gamers to enter virtual worlds on their own.
They even let me play one of their games.
Kaiser says he wants VR games to be accessible to anyone interested.
“VR is the future, or at least part of it, and I think it’s for everyone,” he said. To show what VR is is not to show what VR will be like,” Kaiser said. Kaiser later said he would like to host esports competitions and other events for gamers.
Tulsa County Commissioner Karen Keith believes the deal will put Tulsa on the tourist map and inspire more entrepreneurs to set up businesses here. “These little knots in Tulsa keep each piece alive and unfolding,” Keith said.
Kaiser said he is confident the VR and tech industry will continue to grow in Tulsa. “I think Tulsa… I know Tulsa is poised for a new tech industry,” Kaiser said. The studio’s grand opening is scheduled for next Friday, October 21st.
