The next time you’re tired of Microsoft Teams calls, play a game of Minesweeper with your co-workers.
The company on Wednesday added a collection of casual games to its Teams chat and call service as it seeks to get people to spend more time in its apps, according to Microsoft to help teammates get to know each other. Solitaire will also be available with a new game being developed called IceBreakers.
Microsoft is expanding a product that exploded during the pandemic, which forced employees to come together and collaborate virtually, and is looking to establish Teams as the primary destination for work. Now available to popular device and desktop software developers.
Developed integration for Teams. By adding games, Microsoft isn’t just looking to add fun to the equation, it can even strengthen bonds at work. Employees can gather remotely to win Minesweeper. Minesweeper is a clickable square puzzle game with virtual mines to avoid. Or just watch the entertainment.
Gaming is a familiar product for her Microsoft. In addition to the entire Xbox franchise that launched in 2001, the company offers a variety of ways to play casual games. For example, the classic game Klondike is part of the Microsoft Solitaire Collection app for Windows.
Nicole Herskowitz, her vice president of corporate at Microsoft, said in her blog post: She likened it to her experience watching Jeopardy.
In January, Microsoft announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard, publisher of first-person shooter games in the Call of Duty franchise, for around $69 billion. The deal must first clear regulatory hurdles.
