The director of the 2006 Silent Hill film has reiterated that Konami is in the process of reviving the dormant survival-horror franchise, this time with some new games. In June, director Christoph Gans candidly said that Konami was working on a big return for Silent Hill, both in the form of a new game and a companion film. And Konami himself has yet to confirm this. Well, Guns sheds more light on what it knows about the publisher’s plans.
In a recent interview, Gans said he knows of several games in the Silent Hill franchise that are currently in the works. Gunns clarified that he was not working on these titles, but said he was aware of their existence as he still works with Konami. Gunns didn’t share further on the nature of these new Silent Hill titles, but he did say that Konami appears to be developing some of the projects in-house. has confirmed that the Silent Hill 2 remake that was leaked to Bloober Team is in fact being made.
“I know a little [about the upcoming Silent Hill game]. I’m the original creator, he’s working with Silent Team. I’m working with Konami,” Gans explained. “I work with Konami’s original creators, the silent team. As we speak, there are several games in development, several teams working on different games, and they will revive the franchise.I think they were really impressed with the success of the Resident Evil remake, a decidedly exceptional game.”
With so many leaks and rumors circulating about Silent Hill lately, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before a new game in the series is revealed. Be that as it may, there’s no doubt that one of Konami’s biggest items will finally find its way into the limelight in the years to come.
