US internet operators come together to develop the first industry standards for responsible gaming

  • U.S. online gaming operators have come together to agree on industry-first responsible gaming standards with a 12-point commitment to safe, recommended iGaming guidelines as a guideline. industry standard.

This announcement comes as this month has been designated as Responsible Gaming Education Month, created by the American Gaming Association. The partnership includes companies such as Bally`s Corporation, BetMGM, DraftKings, Entain, FanDuel and MGM Resorts International.

Joshua Jessen, Legal Director of BetMGM, said: “Although we operate in a highly competitive industry, we take pride in embracing these important principles with our colleagues. Creating a consistent standard of responsible gaming practices at all levels will significantly strengthen our collective commitment to our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we live.”

The 12 principles stem from four core attributes, including only participating in legitimate markets to protect consumers; instill a culture of responsible gaming throughout their operations; and view online gaming as a source of entertainment while also supporting those in need of additional tools and support.

Robeson Reeves, President of Interactions at Bally’s Corporation, said, “Bally’s is proud to partner with all participating operators. We are committed to the 12-point commitment and it is up to Bally and the industry to prevent underage gambling and provide education and protections. ”

The companies are committed to taking active steps to prevent underage and excluded people from engaging in any form of gambling, and to provide customers with informed gambling choices through through responsible gambling tools that are easy to understand.

The principles also include the effective adoption and promotion of a nationally agreed free responsible gambling helpline and socially responsible advertising, avoiding images that may appeal to children. minors in its marketing content.

Other provisions call for a “shared responsibility approach” to tackle gambling and commit to “working with policymakers, academic experts and researchers, and institutions dealing with it. problem gambling, advocacy groups and partners”, as well as customers to promote responsible gaming.

This partnership also engages in employee training and the ongoing monitoring of operators’ respective responsible gaming initiatives and programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
